Nakuru town also has the Lake Nakuru which is habited by the famous flamingoes. The lake is adjacent to the Lake Nakuru National park. The lake has an a bundance of the the algae, the algae is the  a favorite food for the Flamingoes, this evidenced by the fact that the colour of the flamingo ranges from light pink to dark red. The color variation is determined by the amount of aqueous bacteria and beta carotene obtained from the food supply. The flamingo attracts the opposite sex to mate by their colorings. The brightly colored flamingoes are normally brightly colored and normally look healthy. On the other hand a flamingo which is pale in color or looks whitish is often an indication of poor feeding and has a lower chance for mating.
